About the Photographer
Andy Parker is a freelance photographer born in 1972 and currently based in Bristol, UK. Always possessing an interest in photography, it was only when living in Madrid during the late 2000s that Andy became inspired by the timeless quality of black and white and considered the urban environment as a valid photographic subject. This was expanded further following a move to Venice, Italy where he lived for a number of years. However, he continues to expand his portfolio within a range of genre, including still life and abstract photography, in both black and white and colour.
Working within environmental portraiture, formal head shots and stage photography, he is also available to take on a range of projects and commissions. With his documentary approach, his style is ideal for capturing formal and informal events without being an intrusive presence and he is happy to discuss any project ideas.
With many of his images appearing in a range of publications online and in print, a notable image, "Reflected Bell Tower" (Venice) can be seen in the book "Dreams of Venice in Black and White" which is currently available to purchase. Another popular image, "Three Cross 6th" (New York) was also shortlisted for the Black + White Magazine Photographer of the Year 2018 competition and ''Street Food" (Bristol) was a winning entry in the Martin Parr Foundation/Arnolfini Carnival Pop Up competition in 2019.
When not working, he continues to shoot within the urban environment, documenting daily life and the continual interplay of light, shadow and reflection. With continued strong links to Venice, he has an ongoing project attempting to capture the changing character of the city through the seasons.
